Barbara Heck

BARBARA(Heck) born 1734 in the town of Ballingrane (Republic of Ireland), daughter of Bastian and Margaret Embury. Bastian Ruckle (Sebastian), as well Margaret Embury, daughter of Bastian Ruckle (Republic of Ireland) got married to Paul Heck (1760 in Ireland). The couple had seven kids, and four lived to adulthood.

In most cases it is the case that the person has been involved in important events and has had unique thoughts or opinions that are recorded in writing. Barbara Heck however left no letters or statements indeed any evidence of such since the day of her wedding is secondary. The main documents used by Heck to describe her motives and actions have been lost. In spite of this she became a legendary figure during the early days of Methodism. Abel Stevens a Methodist Historian recorded the event in 1866. Barbara Heck is now unquestionably the first woman to be included in the historical record of New World ecclesiastical women, because of the advancements achieved by Methodism. It is important to consider the magnitude of Barbara Heck's record in relation to her legacy from her great cause than the narrative of her life. Barbara Heck had a fortuitous part in establishing Methodism in The United States of America and Canada. Her reputation is built on the inherent nature of any organization or group must exaggerate the roots of its movements in order to enhance the feeling of tradition.
